The Middle Run Foundation makes grants up to $500,000 annually with individual grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000.

Grants are primarily targeted to non-profit organizations in the state of Delaware. Exceptions are made for qualifying programs of particular interest to members of the foundation board.

The Middle Run Foundation does not consider proposals for funding in the following areas: personal businesses, reduction or elimination of deficits, projects that are located outside of the United States, endowment fund campaigns, government sponsored or controlled projects, or individuals.

Must be a 501(c)(3) organization or educational institution.

Capital grants
Grants to individuals
Individual scholarships
Grants for marketing or publications
Grants to endowment funds

Grant Amounts and Deadlines

  • The Middle Run Foundation typically awards $500,000 annually with grants averaging $5,000 to $100,000
  • The Foundation has two award cycles: June and November
  • Applications for the June Board meeting are due April 1
  • Applications for the November Board meeting are due September 1
  • Applications must be made online
  • Applicants must have current status as a 501(c)3 organization

Application Instructions:
All potential applicants must complete an application online. Answers to the questions on the application should be brief and clearly stated. Faxed or mailed applications will not be accepted.

Grant Application Deadlines:
The Middle Run Foundation reviews grant applications twice annually. Following are important deadlines. Applications must be received by April 1 and September 1, with decisions made after June 1 and November 1.

Attachments

  • Cover Sheet (page 1)
  • 1 copy of the 501 (c)(3) IRS determination letter demonstrating your tax-exempt status
  • Leadership, including officers, directors and board members
  • Organization budget, including anticipated sources of income
  • Your most recent annual financial statement (audited if available)

Reports
Grant recipients must provide a brief narrative and financial report on how the grant was spent within one year of the receipt of the grant or at the time of the next application.
